Dmitry B. Komarov is a cue maker in Omsk, Russia who makes both pool cues and Russian billiard cues. Email address is: DBKCues@gmail.com

I had Dmitry make me a six-point fully spliced cue with a carved Mammoth sleeve at the butt of the cue.

I had him send a sample of the Mammoth material – thinking this might help if the cue got stuck in customs. The mammoth sleeve material shows Schreger lines at less than 90-degrees (to differentiate the material used from elephant ivory).

The sleeve was carved with a Chinese fire-breathing dragon. Photos attached are before and after installation of sleeve.

The handle to joint woods used are: (a) Honduras Rosewood (handle area), (b) Black Hornbeam, (c) White Hornbeam and (d) Black Hornbeam.

The forearm is Black Hornbeam running with a black joint. Each of two (2) shafts had six (6) even length points of black hornbeam in them. Light horn beam is used for the main wood in the shafts.

Joint pin is radial G-10 material.

Each joint protector has Russian coins as a nice feature.

The cue has the feel of a one-piece cue.

Very interesting. Have you received the cue? How does it play? Is this the first cue you've purchased from Dmitry?

Thanks for sharing pictures.

Scott

This is the first cue I have purchased from Dmitry.

Yes - I have the cue.
Dmitry predicted it would take 10-14 days to travel from Russia to the U.S.A.
It only took 8 to 8-1/2 days.

The cue plays great and really feels like a single piece cue.

J...finds it strange that the 1st posted cuemaker was named Komarov and the 2nd one (ICA) lives on Komarov Street ???
