Wanted to do a little design showing some 'natural' leather combined with something very 'unnatural'.
I'll leave the perimeter color tan but do some darker colors inside the cutouts.
I still have a long way to go. I'm going to be adding in more anatomical parts and a lot more machinery as well. Anyway, here are some pics...

Definitely geeky I know.. but I'm kinda proud of my vent

VERY cool. It looks like you're leaning towards a steam-punk/terminator type theme. Love seeing new designs, definitely looking forward to this one when it's done.

Rex, what was the inspiration for this design?

That makes me the second person to mention steam-punk. Might want to research it if you're not already familiar, it's a very attractive theme.

Thanks guys. I always appreciate any kind of feedback.

ScottR: A friend of mine was saying that he didn't like some of my full color work because he said the leather no longer even looks like leather anymore. And I can agree to what he means. For example..

So I wanted to do a design that showed 'natural' leather but still had something different going on. The Biomech themes have been around quite awhile. HR Giger's work is some of the most amazing. Tattoos, Terminator, and as Hierovision said, Steampunk as well.

I ended up not liking the first version and added some more stuff to the second version. I think it makes more sense now. Well, as much sense as a mechanized skeleton monster creature cue case thingy can make sense at least.

Just rearranging pics on here. Probably helps make some sense of the panel if I post a full length picture as well.

(this is a pic of the 1st version panel)

Both panels...

Perfect color for the skull. Gives it an ancient look.

I recognized the I Ching text. If my research is correct, it means: "Sprouting". Other variations include "difficulty at the beginning", "gathering support", and "hoarding":

I came across the language as a kid and always wanted to work this symbol into a cue one day...but now I may do it in a case instead:

That's pretty good Patrick.
It is the I-Ching symbol for Chaos. You are correct that it means difficulty in the beginning. But with the strong man restoring order in the end.

I've been using this symbol as a kid. It's a long story that involves a lot of crappy stuff kids shouldn't ever have to go through. But through all the carnage of emotions and dysfunctions one can either find a way to restore order in their lives... or become a uni~bomber. And I'm not a big fan on living in a shed.

There's also another symbol for 'Chaos', which is 8 arrows pointed in opposing directions. It came from a series of books based on the Norse god Elric. I had it made in to a cue.
