I've always liked the look of window cues! Great pickup, though it must have been a hellish decision to give up the Showman propeller cue.

Last weekend I attended the Greater Northeast Cue Show & Tourney. Little Kenny did a wonderful job on his first event. It had everything a cue lover and pool player could ask for. I was torn making a deal on my John Showman cue, however it was for a Gus Szamboti. Gus is widely considered one of the best, if not the best cuemaker to have lived.

I also had the pleasure of meeting Barry Szamboti and getting his thoughts on this cue. Barry refinished the cue a few years ago. I also learned that this cue was most likely made for a close friend of Gus's due to the length of the pin. Gus preferred a longer pin and would only do that for close friends. The cue was made somewhere between 1977-78. The wrap is original to the cue and was installed by Gus. To me, this what a typical Gus player would look like. I am truly amazed at how well the points are for a cue that is roughly 35 years old. This cue personifies why his reputation is what it is.

i dont understand the torn part........... its a no brainer to me.

i think you made an awesome deal.

I wish to thank Don Sureman for a deal that worked for both of us. Dennis Searing is going to make a third shaft for me.

Hey Ralf!

Glad to hear you're getting better.

I would have offered the cue to you but it wasn't the right time when Kenny had it so I didn't think it was a good time again. I have my sights on an unchalked Showman monster. So I let the other one go.

That's a good suggestion about a new shaft from Barry. When i got the cue, Dennis was there and I asked him about an additional shaft. He said he said he had the ringwork to match. I could have a letter done for the cue at the same time if Barry does the work.

I got Dennis to make 2 for mine, already had 3 Barry 2 Gus 1 Scruggs and 1 Tascarella the orange veneer stitch ringwork is the same on both of my Gus cues one Rosewood one Ebony both have smooth leather wrap! I feel it really don't matter who makes the shafts as they are extra but Refinish and Wrap should be done by Barry. Dennis did a PERFECT pair of shafts orange matches PERFECT and every thing lines up perfect oh and the most important thing they PLAY GREAT! GUS, Barry and Dennis are great John and Pete are pretty good too!LOL
