I know I posted this in the main forum, but wanted to add it here. To summarize, I have wanted a cue made by Gus Szamboti since I first started trying to get serious about pool and tried one. Pure sweetness. They were very uncommon in Oklahoma and I couldn't afford the asking price. A few years later, I was $25 short to buy one from a road player in Kansas City (before the days of the ATM) and someone else bought it before I got the money the next day. Damn.....

1pRoscoe located this cue in the PNW and told me about it. After much begging, pleading, and crying like a 2 year old who didn't get his way, I convinced Ross to let me buy it. 58", 19.8 oz., neutral balance that makes it feel like a 19 oz. cue. And it has a solid, lively feel that is great fun to play with.

33 years, and it was worth the wait. Fairly uncommon double black, double maple veneers AND an ivory joint. What a simple classic combo. But, I'm just a bit prejudiced.

Scott

I hate to admit it, but it does look better in your collection than in mine....

Killing time today, and thought I'd finally check out the updates to the collection threads.

That cue makes me moist, Scott. Seriously....there's drippage.

Mark <---just sayin'

Me too, Mark. Hopefully I will have it back from the "tune-up clinic" by VF and you can give it a spin. You may decide to switch to ivory joints afterwards. Seriously.

I'd love to, sir. Can't say I'll be moving out of the piloted steel camp anytime soon...but far be it from me to not be open-minded about it. Either way, I'd jump at the chance to hit some balls with it.

When are you heading up to the show?

Mark

All I have to say is, "remember the Runde..... it surprised you, right?"

Scott <<== just sayin'......

What I didn't show in the pictures above is what someone had done to this cue in the past. It has a single ivory window that someone had gouged out with what looked like a nail. Unbelievable. Best we can figure is that the cue had the original owners name engraved and a subsequent owner decided to do his own repair.

You can also see how frayed the original linen wrap was. After a trip to the refurb shop, she is now good as new! Better, because there is also a new shaft.

Scott

LOL Yeah

Let's see.... flip the cue and pocket $5K+ in profit in a day or pass the deal on to a great friend with no markup.... Yeah, I chose the latter, and no Jim, you wouldn't have gotten the same deal.

That cue was an absolute STEAL. Love the way it turned out.

Ross your words mean little to me, you say to many things that really just don't seem to pan out, I don't need or want that deal FROM YOU, God only knows how many times this will come up in the future. I'm happy the right person got the right cue, how or why doesn't really matter to me, but I don't have to buy any story to be happy.

Jim <---Glad for ScottR

PS I'll give ya $2500 for the Searing Ross.
