hi i have a 40 year old joss west cue with two shafts,everything is straight just like when it was new,i was thinking of getting a new cue,i tried the new joss hp natural shaft and its ok,would getting a new cue hit better then what i have ,all opinions welcome,thanks.

You’ve got yourself a classic and a perfectly fine tool to play the game. Maybe you should have the shafts cleaned up get yourself a new tip and enjoy what you have, it’s not going to get any better.

I agree with Jim. Not knowing any details about your cue, when cleaning up your shafts and having new tips installed, you could also think about reweighting the butt. Some cues from the late 70’s were a bit heavier than would be typical today. I have a cue from 1985 that was delivered at 20.4 oz, which I never really liked. Replacing the weight bolt with one made from aluminum brought the cue down to 19.1 oz and completely changed my perspective on playing with it.

If decide to update the JW and your cue has a linen wrap, I would consider cleaning rather than replacement.
