Are you building cues to order or are you building spec cues?
Do you prefer cored or uncored cues. If cored, what's your preferred coring material?
Cues built using the aid of cnc machinery: handmade, hand crafted, etc?
Other than the designs, do you have anything in construction that you feel make your cues different?
Is there a standard taper, ferrule, tip, etc?

PS- Has anyone offered to trade a website for a cue yet? If not, put me in coach!

Current building what i want with a few orders to do my thing with just trying to incorporate there style of cue.

I prefer a cue that hits good and is not likely to warp, therefore i guess i prefer cored.

Refer to TW's question

I'm not sure its different but i think i may have a few extra steps "specifically as shown to me by PFD" that give me a better chance at success. Some of the stuff is not really commonplace as shown on the internet so i've not really seen it anywhere else.
That information is of course not mine to really disclose though.

I do have my standard taper which is non-negotiable at this point. I usually do ivory ferrule standard on 1 shaft and top secret ferrule on another.

I prefer to wait for the guy who offers to build a time machine for a cue but thanks for the offer!

I want them to be played, so much so that i'll refinish and do any maintenance for free on a highend cue that people are afraid to get dirty so to speak.

Disclaimer
If your a known flipper than the above scenario does not apply to you!

I know I learned a lot from Jake and once again I thank him for taking the time out of his busy day / night to do this for us.
If there are any further questions or follow ups please ask now as this thread will be locked in a day or so.

My last question would be: Where are those pics???

Kind of off topic, but Jake is one of those guys that I'd like to hang out with and talk; about a lot of topics. He can take a punch and give one. Verbally, of course (or coarse for Rick), because I'm old and stuff.

Jake is one of the many "good guys" I've met in this business and I'm very happy to have met him and his beautiful bride.

Thanks again, Jake. I'm sure answering all of our questions is several rungs below #11.

Scott

If you were to build yourself a cue today to play with what would it be like. Not worrying about selling it later. What would your current taste be?

It will be a remake of this cue with a few changes.

I planned on giving this cue to Patrick if he wants it and promises to sell it to me if he ever gets rid of it. He was the first guy to ever order a cue from me.

I've been a fan of Jake's work from the moment I came across it. I'm really glad to see him getting the respect he deserves.

When I reached out to him I wanted something very specific setup wise, but pretty traditional in overall design.

He talked me into pushing the envelope a little and building something "fun". I can't remember how he phrased it exactly, but he told me he only wanted to build a cue that he would find challenging and something he would look forward to working on.

It was refreshing to hear.

I have found Jake to be very laid back in most cases. Sadly, for you, I have never seen him not carry through on a threat!

Jake, in the last three years you have won cue of the year, been accepted at ICCS and now been accepted as a cue maker by Jimbo after only building 30 cues. With all this, what is the proudest cue building accomplishment you have achieved to date?
